Project CAD Operator

Background
To Plan, manage and delivery efficiently all of CAD/ BIM drawings models required for Technical services Team or client Projects from M&E redesign/ replacement of services through to building alterations and extensions.
Key Responsibilities
- To Manage and oversee the collation and coordination of COBie data on behalf of the Facilities management Service.
- To manage the allocation of space in corporate buildings in order to drive efficient building utilisation by a process of space design and negotiation with Directorates to produce a “best fit” footprint aligned with the occupancy standards and SLAs.
- To support the Technical services Team Project leads with production/ revision of CAD drawings or BIM Models and quantity take offs for pricing on schedule of rates.
- To provide updated CAD drawings and to commission surveys and drawings from a variety of sources as required by client departments capturing time and costs for recharge.
- To implement corporate space and occupancy standards in the planning, CAD drawings, building layout plans.
- To have a detailed and established knowledge of UK building regulations and their application to the construction process and the aspects incorporated with in the duties of this role.
- To provide technical support to the wider FM department for the use of BIM, CAD and COBie software systems providing internal training and support as required.
- Good working knowledge of local government office procedures and administrative systems, together with knowledge and understanding of project management techniques and tools, and experience of working in a complex, sensitive, multi-stakeholder environment.
- To delivery efficiently all of CAD drawings and space planning layouts to enable accommodation projects and minor works programmes to be delivered in line with accommodation strategy.
- To produce, review, and implement effective procedures and to create drawings, BIM models and COBie datasets to integrate BIM, CAD and CAFM systems to support planned maintenance and reactive repairs to create an “Intelligent Helpdesk” function capable of supporting the management and delivery of a variety of multi-disciplinary FM operations.
- Operate and utilize information and communications technology as appropriate to the post’s areas of responsibility and to assist with the identification and development of new ICT applications that would improve the efficiency of the service.
- Responsible for producing detailed and annotated plans for sites and buildings for the corporate estate and commissioned projects from other services to generate income.
- To manage the Council’s wayfinding, signage, and displayed information across the Corporate buildings updating in line with accommodation changes.
- To maintain strict confidentiality where required and to ensure that the provisions of GDPR are observed. To maintain tact and discretion in dealing with Members, Council staff and the public and to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post with full regard to the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policies, Health and Safety legislation and the Council’s policies, procedures and working arrangements.
Key Skills
- Detailed understanding of the AutoCAD software and use of it for construction, MEP drawings.
- Detailed understanding of BIM modelling using the specialist software Rivet.
- Good understanding of Space Management and utilisation.
- Good understanding of COBie data sets.
- Good Understanding of CAFM software systems.
- Knowledge of building maintenance, building regulations and mechanical and electrical engineering.
- IT literate in the use of Microsoft Office software packages, e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, TEAMs, Outlook.
Qualifications and Experience
- HND in relevant subject like architecture, construction, civil engineering.
- Extensive experience of having worked in a building, mechanical and engineering office environment as a CAD operator or BIM operator.
- Highly experienced in using AutoCAD software and producing work to a high level.
- Highly experienced in using BIM software like Rivet and Navisworks and producing work to a high level.
- To have used a computer software platforms for coordination, scheduling, programing, file sharing and collaboration on construction projects.
- To have used a computer property management system/ CAFM system like TF Cloud or similar software.
- To develop length and quantity take offs for material ordering or pricing against Schedule of rates.
- To have experience of running interference detection on BIM Models to detect design clashes to assist designing of services by Mechanical and electrical engineers.
- Experience of assisting project teams with visualisations.
- A-level Maths & English grade A-C.
