Background


This role offered initially on a 3-month term (which may be renewed at the end of this term). The role is based in the Town Hall with the ability to work remotely for most of the week.

The Council's well-resourced and Lexcel accredited legal team has a crucial role providing the full range and variety of expert services across all areas of the council’s work.



Key Responsibilities

  • You will be one of a team of lawyers dealing with a variety of Civil Litigation matters. The team’s work includes disrepair, homelessness, anti-social behaviour, unauthorised occupation, employment and miscellaneous litigation.
  • The focus of this role will be dealing with disrepair matters and you must be able to demonstrate experience in this area and the transferable skills and willingness to undertake a variety of work.
  • You will have experience of conducting advocacy and be able to conduct your caseload with minimum supervision and will be accustomed to working at pace in a busy team.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • You must be a Qualified Solicitor/Barrister or Fellow of CILEX in Wales and England and hold a Practising Certificate on commencement of the role.
