Community Engagement Manager

Background
To support the delivery of an integrated community engagement strategy for the Early Help and Children and Families Service which is widely owned, ambitious and secures demonstrable and measurable improvements in the way the Service communicates both internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities
- To widen participation in Tower Hamlets early education and childcare provision through engagement with local communities and their representatives and through partnership working within the council and other partner organisations.
- To work closely with Corporate Communications to ensure information about the Service is accurate, easy to access and understand, and in line with national inclusion and accessibility advice. This work will cover all currently available platforms.
- To provide a quality assurance function to develop the virtual offer in order to expand the availability of training and coaching available to early years settings and to parents locally. This will contribute to the overall Service quality assurance approaches.
- To identify partner initiatives that promote social cohesion such as volunteering opportunities, partnership working with employment services and to access these under the direction of the Engagement Co-ordinator and to work with the Joint Area Coordinator.
Qualifications and Experience
- Level 3 relevant degree or qualification in communication and engagement or relevant professional experience.
- Experience of copy writing for a range of different channels.
- Experience of responding to the changing needs of the service.
- Experience of effectively communicating and negotiating with a range of audiences, including senior stakeholders including members, directors. parent/carers, verbally, on the telephone, and face-to-face.
- Extensive experience of a wide range of communication tools and media channels.
- Experience of working to own initiative, to identify work priorities and manage workload.
- Experience of analysing, interrogating and interpreting multiple sources of data to identify service needs.
- Experience of marketing, financial administration and business development.
- Experience of using a range of Microsoft IT packages.
- Experience of planning, programming, delivering and monitoring projects and programmes of work, in line with agreed timescales and outputs.
